The pub’s story
Fierce Beer’s Rose Street bar is a modern brewery tap rather than an old pub in a brewery building. The Aberdeenshire brewer opened this as its first pub outside Aberdeen in 2019, a date confirmed both by launch coverage and the operator’s current page. It took over a unit with earlier names including 1780, Bad Ass and Peevers, so those are previous operators, not a continuous Fierce history. The current bar centres on twenty rotating taps, packaged beer to take away, guest beers, cocktails and whisky. CAMRA’s updated record adds an important recent development: in April 2025 it began selling cask real ale via a jacket-cooled gravity dispense, alongside real cider. Go for a current Scottish craft-beer range rather than historic interiors, and use the live tap list if a particular beer is the point of your visit.
What to notice
- 01
Use the live tap list before travelling if a particular Fierce or guest beer matters. The range rotates.
- 02
CAMRA says a cask ale has been offered since April 2025, but the venue remains primarily a craft-keg and packaged-beer bar.
- 03
Card payment only is recorded by CAMRA; this is a compact stop rather than a full-service traditional pub.

Sources & confidence
Fierce Beer’s official Edinburgh page establishes the 2019 opening, twenty-tap contemporary offer and current visitor details. CAMRA corroborates the present venue and cask-beer development. The record treats former site names as background, not a fictional continuity story.
