The pub’s story

Bellfield Brewery combines a 2014 company founding with a later Abbeyhill public site. Companies House records the brewery’s incorporation on 2 December 2014; the operator dates the neighbouring taproom’s opening to August 2019 and its all-weather beer garden to July 2020. This distinction prevents the whole visitor venue from being inaccurately dated to the company’s birth. The brewery was founded by friends including two people with coeliac disease and bases its identity on producing its own gluten-free beer. Its site says each beer is routinely laboratory tested and that it holds Coeliac UK accreditation, but this applies to Bellfield’s own beer rather than automatically to all changing guest products. A 2,000-litre brewhouse is on site, so the taproom is tied directly to production. Food is provided by changing guest pop-ups or outside orders, adding another deliberately flexible layer to this contemporary brewery venue.

During your visit

What to notice

  1. 01

Bellfield’s gluten-free and certification claims concern its own beer; ask about individual guest products if a dietary requirement is critical.

  2. 02

The 2,000-litre brewhouse is on site, so draught production and the taproom are directly connected.

  3. 03

Food is supplied by changing guest pop-ups or can be ordered in, rather than through a fixed full-time kitchen.

Sources & confidence

The official site proves present 2026 operation, location and current certification claims. CAMRA’s venue and brewery records independently support the 2014 establishment, 2019 site opening and first-certified-gluten-free-brewery description. Certification is phrased narrowly so it is not extended to every possible guest product.
